About CEH :

The Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) course is a transformative journey into the world of ethical hacking. It equips participants with the skills to identify and combat cybersecurity vulnerabilities through a blend of theory and hands-on labs. By simulating real-world scenarios, CEH prepares individuals to become proficient ethical hackers, making it a globally recognized certification for those aiming to enhance their cybersecurity careers.

Before delving into my CEH adventure, I had a blast taking on Capture The Flag challenges in platforms like Hack The Box and TryHackMe. Armed with a bit of networking knowledge, security basics, and some coding skills, I was on a mission to open doors in the cybersecurity field.

Demystifying CEH: Friendly and Accessible
Don’t let the rumors fool you — CEH isn’t a beast to tame. It’s a welcoming certification, perfect for those new to ethical hacking. The modules on Footprinting, Reconnaissance, Scanning, and Enumeration offer insights into the world of ethical hacking in a language anyone can understand.

Oct. 2022 — Nov. 2022: Training and Real-World Techniques

I began the course in September 2022 and underwent training from October to November. During these sessions, I absorbed a wealth of new information. The training provided practical experience in real-world tactics, like bypassing IDS and firewalls, and even hacking mobile platforms. However, I won’t delve too deep into these specifics for now.

Jan to Feb 2023 : Study Time: Smart Learning
With determination and a solid plan, I tackled all 20 modules of the CEHv12 PDF in just two months. These modules are treasure troves designed to guide beginners. My advice? Keep handy notes; they’ll be your exam buddies.

The Cheat Sheet Trick: Simplifying the Complex
I turned all that module knowledge into a short cheat sheet, just one page from 200. While you can find CEH cheat sheets online, but creating your own is a smarter move for exam prep — it’ll be your secret weapon.

March to June 2023 — Another Journey : Navigating Challenges
Expanding my horizons, I dived into Capture The Flag challenges, a practice round for my OSCP pursuit. Months of engagement in HackTheBox with TjNULL’s OSCP list sharpened my skills, leading to rooted over nearly 100 machines on Windows and Linux.

July 2023 : Final Prep: The Countdown to Exam Day
July was all about revisiting the materials. Armed with my cheat sheet, I reviewed everything. CEH-style multiple-choice questions became my daily drill, amassing a treasure trove of knowledge and notes.

August 2023 : Nerves and Excitement: Exam Week
As August dawned, I braced myself for the CEH exam. Although apprehensive due to the breadth of the exam’s potential content, I held onto my confidence in the knowledge acquired during my journey. I adhered to a night-time study routine, aligning with my optimal focus hours.

The Big Moment: Triumph and Joy
On August 16th, in the dead of night, I embarked on my CEH exam journey. As I clicked “Submit Your Exam,” a mixture of anxiety and anticipation engulfed me. Within moments, the screen heralded the word “Congratulations, Your digital certificate will be available to download between 7–10 days from date of certification in your Aspen account.” The culmination of months of dedication and learning had paid off — I was a Certified Ethical Hacker.
